Low leakage 3 phase EMC filter for robotics

Schaffner has developed a series low leakage 3 phase EMC current filters with flexible manufacturing for robotics market and other industrial applications

The FN3040, FN3041, FN3042 and FN3043 electromagnetic compatibility EMC filter family is rated for currents of 10 A–30 A at 50oC. Designs can be more flexible with embedded terminals and optional (FN3042 / 43) DIN Rail mounting.

The EMC filter range is aimed at applications such as robotics, electrical and electronic equipment, industrial automation, test & measurement devices and small machines with a leakage current between 0 mA and 0.40 mA depending on voltage level and inductance from 0.5 mH to 12.9 mH at 1 kHz.

Schaffner, which is being bought by TE, says it anticipated supply challenges for the parts and developed flexibility in its manufacturing processes. The filters are produced specifically to meet customer demands and use ferrite or nanocrystalline materials.

The current filters are also designed with sustainability in mind with materials that can be easily separated at the end of the product’s working life for environmentally safe disposal.

The FN304X filters are especially suited to power grids with very tough requirements and other applications that have safety and reliability as a main focus. A plastic housing combined with a metal ground plate achieves the lowest possible product weight without compromising EMC behaviour while fixed, while hinged terminal covers enhance safety levels by protecting against contact with live conductors.
