{"id":1883,"date":"2026-02-19T13:54:39","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T13:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=1883"},"modified":"2026-03-22T00:11:25","modified_gmt":"2026-03-22T00:11:25","slug":"rf-microwave-engineer-4","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/?post_type=job_listing&p=1883","title":{"rendered":"RF Microwave Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"f282d9dd _5afe57c9 _86b9d5f8 c88da257 f28ac035 _28deab20 b71ab18f\">\n<h2 class=\"ff44be0a _52a314be ca666375 bab11c20 _65531f27 cfb2a716 b9b25d9c a7de939b _8870eb30 _7f740db4\">About the job<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"ff44be0a c2dd7318 bab11c20 _65531f27 d07784b5 d722501a a7de939b _8870eb30 _7f740db4\"><span class=\"_57283a01 _6e68476c\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Job Description <\/strong>We are excited to be recruiting for an experience Engineer with microwave engineering knowledge, familiar with working on complex electronic (ideally RF-based) sensor systems.<\/p>\n<p>The role can be based in either Southampton or Bristol and will focus on the electronics design of the RF and control subsystems; to be implemented on laboratory and aircraft concept demonstrators.<\/p>\n<p>You will provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle including design implementation, integration and test, system trials and product delivery.<\/p>\n<p>You will be part of the Leonardo Airborne Communications product development group within the Integrated Sensing &amp; Protection line of business; interacting with partner organisations \/ sub-contractors and potential customers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Impact <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_7ab7ba13 _770316eb\">\n<li>You will be responsible for delivery of work packages focused on analogue and RF electronics, covering the inter vehicle data link design, system test and integration.<\/li>\n<li>Modelling of proposed architectures to determine the optimal solution.<\/li>\n<li>Simulation of RF design.<\/li>\n<li>Documentation of design including configuration management within Teamcenter.<\/li>\n<li>Support laboratory hardware demonstrator development and test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ff44be0a c2dd7318 bab11c20 _65531f27 d07784b5 d722501a a7de939b _8870eb30 _7f740db4\"><span class=\"_57283a01 _6e68476c\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>What We Are Looking For <\/strong>These are some of the key things we are looking for, although it\u2019s not necessary to have experience in everything<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_7ab7ba13 _770316eb\">\n<li>Practical hands on experience of RF design of circuitry, ideally between DC and 30 GHz, but if you don\u2019t have experience over this whole range then we\u2019d still be interested to hear from you.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working with PCB layout personnel in an advisory capacity.<\/li>\n<li>Hands on experience of using RF test and measurement equipment to develop and debug RF circuitry.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use RF and system modelling and simulation tools.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to produce concise technical reports detailing design solutions and implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to understand and follow the business practices, such as design reviews, which come with working in a high technology defence environment.<\/li>\n<li>Degree in relevant engineering or related scientific discipline (Electronics Engineering preferred).<\/li>\n<li>As part of an electromechanical project, be willing to work closely with the mechanical team members to create a solution which addresses all design requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ff44be0a c2dd7318 bab11c20 _65531f27 d07784b5 d722501a a7de939b _8870eb30 _7f740db4\"><span class=\"_57283a01 _6e68476c\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>It would be nice if you had <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_7ab7ba13 _770316eb\">\n<li>Knowledge \/ experience of digital or mixed signal design.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in system level and sub-system integration and debug.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working in the defence electronics sector.<\/li>\n<li>Chartered Engineer status, or a member of a professional engineering institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ff44be0a c2dd7318 bab11c20 _65531f27 d07784b5 d722501a a7de939b _8870eb30 _7f740db4\"><span class=\"_57283a01 _6e68476c\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Security Clearance <\/strong>This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government\u2019s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
