Avoira Ltd is a UK wide communications company providing a wide range of services to a variety of customers. Based at our Avonmouth office, a position exists for a Radio Engineer in our Radio department complementing our engineering team and providing additional skill and resource to an ever-expanding product & customer base. The successful applicant will be involved with all aspects of system builds, delivery, and maintenance for Avoira radio communications products including: PMR, DMR, Radio and Microwave infrastructure. This role includes tower climbing and rigging activities<\/p>\n

Responsibilities:<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Preparation, installation, and commissioning of all aspects of PMR, DMR, telemetry radio & microwave infrastructure.<\/li>\n
  • Diagnosis and repair of a range of radio equipment, from hand portables to installed base stations and microwave systems utilising a range of bench and portable test equipment.<\/li>\n
  • Supporting and maintaining Motorola radio systems.<\/li>\n
  • Installation and maintenance of microwave\/radio equipment at height on tower structures<\/li>\n
  • Ensure effective response to system faults within contractual timescales.<\/li>\n
  • Liaise with customers in respect of system reporting, performance, and maintenance issues.<\/li>\n
  • Follow suitable and sufficient H&S documentation to meet customer requirements.<\/li>\n
  • Maintain standards of technical excellence within the department.<\/li>\n
  • Ensure a full understanding of products and services are cascaded through the team.<\/li>\n
  • Provide support to the Avonmouth Technical Team Leader<\/li>\n
  • Post-Sales support, including customer training.<\/li>\n
  • Assist with pre-sales support including specification, documentation.<\/li>\n
  • Support and coach other members of the team<\/li>\n
  • Participation on the out of hours standby rota in the region<\/li>\n
  • Ensure a right first-time approach is mandated in the department.<\/li>\n
  • Ensure all documentation is completed and returned in a timely manner.<\/li>\n
  • Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to at all times.<\/li>\n
  • Actively seek and exploit earning opportunities for the company.<\/li>\n
  • Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the management of the company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Skills & Experience:<\/b><\/p>\n

      Essential:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • At least 5 years\u2019 experience of the two-way radio communications industry including Motorola PMR, DMR<\/li>\n
      • Knowledge, experience & understanding of IP based technologies including routing, switching and VoIP.<\/li>\n
      • Experience of Distributed Antenna Systems, both Active and Passive, VHF, UHF, Cellular<\/li>\n
      • Detection and resolution of RF interference & intermodulation<\/li>\n
      • Experience of tower climbing and rigging<\/li>\n
      • EMF testing, calculations, and measurement to ICNIRP guidelines for OFCOM compliance<\/li>\n
      • Competent to follow H&S documentation.<\/li>\n
      • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.<\/li>\n
      • Able to work under own initiative to deadlines.<\/li>\n
      • Able to work away from home.<\/li>\n
      • Ability to work as part of the existing team, also display high degree of autonomy<\/li>\n
      • Willing to undergo security assessment\/vetting<\/li>\n
      • Good written and verbal communications skills.<\/li>\n
      • Full UK driving licence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Desirable:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • Experience of the two-way radio communications industry including, Radio Telemetry or Microwave Systems<\/li>\n
        • Experience of LV electrical systems installation & maintenance<\/li>\n
        • Able to work to component level.<\/li>\n
        • PASMA trained.<\/li>\n
        • HNC Electrical\/Electronic or equivalent experience<\/li>\n
        • Confined space trained.<\/li>\n
        • Advanced climber trained.<\/li>\n
        • CSCS\/EUSR\/SHEA trained holding a current card.<\/li>\n
        • Rope rescue and first aid at height trained.<\/li>\n
        • Current Working at height and\/or Critical Safety Worker certification<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
