We\u2019re home to the UK\u2019s synchrotron light source \u2013 a giant microscope producing beams of light 10 billion times brighter than the sun. Probing the structure and composition of matter, our work drives innovation in everything from vaccines to nanotech.<\/p>\n<p>At Diamond we are currently undertaking a major upgrade of the facility, known as Diamond-II. Diamond-II will combine a new machine and new beamlines with a comprehensive series of upgrades to optics, detectors, sample environments, sample delivery capabilities and computing, which will ultimately generate an even more brilliant light source at a higher energy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About The Role <\/strong>We now have an opportunity for a Radio Frequency Engineer or Senior RF Engineer to support the RF Group with a high level of expertise in the design, development, operation and maintenance of RF high and low power systems.<\/p>\n<p>You Will Contribute To The Overall Work Of The RF Group With Responsibility For Certain Aspects Of The RF Systems Including<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_0d81368f ae43242d\">\n<li>Development of new RF equipment and carry out assembly and test.<\/li>\n<li>Management and inventory control of the RF laboratory, RF test equipment operation and calibration.<\/li>\n<li>Project management of small R&amp;D projects for new products\/systems.<\/li>\n<li>To undertake study and development projects for future upgrades including amplifier upgrades, electronics upgrades, waveguides and coaxial transmission lines, high power circulators\/loads and supervision equipment.<\/li>\n<li>To carry out inspection, acceptance testing, installation and maintenance of high-power RF equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Liaison with other groups such as Diagnostics, Accelerator Physics and the Operations team in diagnosis and repair or new systems development and installation.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to ensuring safe working practices are being followed.<\/li>\n<li>To take part setting up and preparing for beam operation and beam-off periods, RF and general operation shifts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_8af6450d _26b7f7b6 a02a0828 _924e6326 e7df08c4 a460ff30 _68023ca4 _0bdf4b7c _784eab0a\"><span class=\"_7009b0ce _1dfe1ca5\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Applicants will be considered at either Radio Frequency Engineer or Senior Radio Frequency Engineer level, depending on the strength of your skills, experience and qualifications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About You <\/strong>You should hold a degree in relevant discipline (e.g. RF or Electronics Engineering) or demonstrate equivalent experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As Well As Experience In The Following Areas <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_0d81368f ae43242d\">\n<li>Design, production and testing of RF circuits<\/li>\n<li>Supervision of procurement contracts.<\/li>\n<li>High-power RF measurement and data analysis<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experience in RF transmission lines such as waveguides and high-power coaxial assembly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_8af6450d _26b7f7b6 a02a0828 _924e6326 e7df08c4 a460ff30 _68023ca4 _0bdf4b7c _784eab0a\"><span class=\"_7009b0ce _1dfe1ca5\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Any knowledge \/ experience within the following areas will also be beneficial:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_0d81368f ae43242d\">\n<li>High power solid-state and\/or IOT amplifiers.<\/li>\n<li>Particle accelerator RF systems.<\/li>\n<li>Electrical and electronic fault finding in complex systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_8af6450d _26b7f7b6 a02a0828 _924e6326 e7df08c4 a460ff30 _68023ca4 _0bdf4b7c _784eab0a\"><span class=\"_7009b0ce _1dfe1ca5\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">You will display a willingness to take on a variety of tasks and a desire to learn and face new challenges, and you will demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills to communicate with a range of colleagues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits <\/strong>Diamond offers an exceptional benefits package to support staff in achieving a positive work\/life balance.
