This role is suited to students who have completed their penultimate year and will be returning for their final year after the summer. The placement offers hands-on experience in RF and electronics for students with a strong grounding in the field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The placement will last 12 weeks. Successful candidates should be available to start their placement between May and October 2026. <\/strong><strong>There is no deadline for this role, as we recruit on a rolling basis. Once the position is filled, we will close the advert. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.\u202f\u202f\u202f <\/strong><strong>The Opportunity <\/strong>During the placement, your time will be split between contributing to a dedicated internal RF development project and supporting a range of live client projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining practical exposure to RF design, simulation, testing, and measurement in a professional consultancy environment.<\/p>\n<p>You will also have access to our extensive in-house facilities. Should you attend a face-to-face interview, we&#8217;ll provide a tour of our labs which support hardware development engineering during your visit. These include:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"b3fa8063 _0f06968b\">\n<li>Prototype PCB manufacturing facilities, including SMT pick-and-place, vapour-phase reflow and x-ray inspection<\/li>\n<li>EMC emissions test facility<\/li>\n<li>5GHz 360\u00b0 antenna test facility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"f6996daa _43d7ac38 _1ff55266 _516afbd9 d45dbbfd _913aa3db afa36c2d _0c8c8ede _32566ee9\"><span class=\"c139d662 fc04db8d\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Some interesting high-speed electronics challenges that we&#8217;ve previously solved include:<\/p>\n<p>Overcoming smart meter challenges for the last 5% by developing a custom ZigBee to Long-Range Radio Bridge<\/p>\n<p>Design of a low-power, high-performance smart wearable for Accesso integrating multiple radios<\/p>\n<p>Developing a novel air-interface and bespoke communication systems for the Ocado Smart Platform controlling hundreds of robots in grocery distribution centres<\/p>\n<p>Next-generation Explosive Ordnance Disposal for the British Army<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you&#8217;ll be doing <\/strong><strong>\u202f <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"b3fa8063 _0f06968b\">\n<li>Field experiments to validate concepts<\/li>\n<li>PCB level RF circuit design and laboratory-based design validation<\/li>\n<li>Development of system models<\/li>\n<li>Antenna modelling using our sophisticated design tools<\/li>\n<li>As required, present designs, results and conclusions<\/li>\n<li>Work as part of a close-knit, multi-disciplinary project team focused on delivering design solutions to our clients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"f6996daa _43d7ac38 _1ff55266 _516afbd9 d45dbbfd _913aa3db afa36c2d _0c8c8ede _32566ee9\"><span class=\"c139d662 fc04db8d\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>What you can bring <\/strong>We are looking for someone currently studying towards a MEng degree in Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline, on track to achieve a 2.1 or above.<\/p>\n<p>You will also have:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"b3fa8063 _0f06968b\">\n<li>A solid foundation in electronic principles with an RF leaning.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with RF test equipment (such as spectrum analysers and network analysers).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"f6996daa _43d7ac38 _1ff55266 _516afbd9 d45dbbfd _913aa3db afa36c2d _0c8c8ede _32566ee9\"><span class=\"c139d662 fc04db8d\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">While not essential requirements, we would also be very interested if you have experience with any of the following:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"b3fa8063 _0f06968b\">\n<li>Knowledge of RF simulation tools, and experience in electronics design and schematic capture<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of RF measurements and lab-based debugging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"f6996daa _43d7ac38 _1ff55266 _516afbd9 d45dbbfd _913aa3db afa36c2d _0c8c8ede _32566ee9\"><span class=\"c139d662 fc04db8d\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">A motivated and detail-oriented engineer who is confident working in a hands-on laboratory environment will thrive in this role.<\/p>\n<p>Please ensure your CV includes your A Level (or equivalent) subjects and grades, as well as any relevant university modules.<\/p>\n<p>Covering statements are advantageous though by no means a
