{"id":2424,"date":"2026-04-29T09:54:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T09:54:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=2424"},"modified":"2026-04-29T09:58:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T09:58:16","slug":"principal-rf-engineer-8","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/index.php\/job\/principal-rf-engineer-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Principal RF Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"cbd4d72a a420381b _9084e637 e2601772 c9cbd3eb af041e57 f1a25699\">\n<h2 class=\"d5431a5b b25e2015 _82bbcdb1 c21f445a cacb1a09 _5c81a2df d6803a9f _034443af a163d908 d6b6ba7f _721f82fb\">About the job<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"d5431a5b _1ab16eed c21f445a cacb1a09 a6e178b5 a926cb09 _034443af a163d908 d6b6ba7f _721f82fb e150dd68\"><span class=\"aa4e9d2e _620312c3\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Job Description <\/strong>We are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Engineer with microwave engineering knowledge, familiar with working on complex electronic (ideally RF-based) sensor systems.<\/p>\n<p>The role can be based in either Southampton or Bristol and will focus on the electronics design of the RF and control subsystems; to be implemented on laboratory and aircraft concept demonstrators.<\/p>\n<p>You will provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle including design implementation, integration and test, system trials and product delivery.<\/p>\n<p>You will be part of the Leonardo Airborne Communications product development group within the Integrated Sensing &amp; Protection line of business; interacting with partner organisations \/ sub-contractors and potential customers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Impact <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_13613d6a da470b38\">\n<li>You will be responsible for delivery of work packages focused on analogue and RF electronics, covering the inter vehicle data link design, system test and integration.<\/li>\n<li>Modelling of proposed architectures to determine the optimal solution.<\/li>\n<li>Simulation of RF design.<\/li>\n<li>Documentation of design including configuration management within Teamcenter.<\/li>\n<li>Support laboratory hardware demonstrator development and test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"d5431a5b _1ab16eed c21f445a cacb1a09 a6e178b5 a926cb09 _034443af a163d908 d6b6ba7f _721f82fb e150dd68\"><span class=\"aa4e9d2e _620312c3\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>What We Are Looking For <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_13613d6a da470b38\">\n<li>Practical hands on experience of RF design of circuitry, ideally between DC and 30 GHz, but if you don\u2019t have experience over this whole range then we\u2019d still be interested to hear from you.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working with PCB layout personnel in an advisory capacity.<\/li>\n<li>Hands on experience of using RF test and measurement equipment to develop and debug RF circuitry.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use RF and system modelling and simulation tools.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to produce concise technical reports detailing design solutions and implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to understand and follow the business practices, such as design reviews, which come with working in a high technology defence environment.<\/li>\n<li>Degree in relevant engineering or related scientific discipline (Electronics Engineering preferred).<\/li>\n<li>As part of an electromechanical project, be willing to work closely with the mechanical team members to create a solution which addresses all design requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"d5431a5b _1ab16eed c21f445a cacb1a09 a6e178b5 a926cb09 _034443af a163d908 d6b6ba7f _721f82fb e150dd68\"><span class=\"aa4e9d2e _620312c3\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>It would be nice if you had <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_13613d6a da470b38\">\n<li>Knowledge \/ experience of digital or mixed signal design.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in system level and sub-system integration and debug.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working in the defence electronics sector.<\/li>\n<li>Chartered Engineer status, or a member of a professional engineering institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"d5431a5b _1ab16eed c21f445a cacb1a09 a6e178b5 a926cb09 _034443af a163d908 d6b6ba7f _721f82fb e150dd68\"><span class=\"aa4e9d2e _620312c3\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Security Clearance <\/strong>This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government\u2019s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
