Since 1977, we have worked with global technology leaders across telecommunications infrastructure, aerospace and defence, space, and critical communications.<\/p>\n<p>We design and manufacture advanced RF, microwave and mmWave solutions across frequencies from 300MHz to 175GHz, supporting customers in some of the world&#8217;s most demanding communications environments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The opportunity <\/strong>We are looking for a <strong>Microwave Filter Design Engineer<\/strong> to join our engineering team and support the design, development, test and introduction of high-performance RF and microwave filter products.<\/p>\n<p>This role would suit an engineer with experience in RF, microwave, filter, antenna, electromagnetic, communications or hardware design who wants to develop deeper expertise in microwave filter engineering. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real product development projects, taking designs from early concept through simulation, prototyping, verification and release into manufacture.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals, practical curiosity, and the motivation to grow into a specialist microwave filter design role.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You&#8217;ll Be Doing <\/strong>You will:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_5e234547 _2c148f22\">\n<li>Design and develop RF and microwave filters and related sub-systems under the guidance of senior engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Use simulation and design tools to model, optimise and evaluate filter performance.<\/li>\n<li>Support prototyping, build, tuning and test activities in the lab.<\/li>\n<li>Carry out measurements using RF test equipment such as VNAs and other microwave laboratory equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Help prepare design documentation, test plans, test reports and data packs.<\/li>\n<li>Support design verification and validation activities.<\/li>\n<li>Work with manufacturing, test, quality and project teams to resolve technical issues during product development and introduction.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to design reviews, peer reviews and technical problem-solving.<\/li>\n<li>Support continuous improvement of filter designs, design methods and engineering processes.<\/li>\n<li>Develop knowledge of manufacturability, tolerance analysis, power handling, thermal effects, reliability and compliance requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_12a7eae6 _75c2a818 _9b0f7623 f45f3923 _4e4a9883 _72a2d467 _9a64dc34 fa94859a afd72d7a _5d7e8717 c88c8901\"><span class=\"_0e40a960 d9981ad5\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Requirements <\/strong>We are interested in hearing from candidates who meets most of the following:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_5e234547 _2c148f22\">\n<li>A degree, HND\/HNC, apprenticeship background or equivalent practical experience in RF, microwave, electronic, electrical or communications engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Experience or strong academic understanding of RF and microwave engineering principles.<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to filter design, RF circuit design, electromagnetic simulation, antenna design, microwave components or related technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with RF design or simulation tools such as Microwave Office, CST Studio, HFSS, ADS or similar.<\/li>\n<li>Practical laboratory experience, ideally including RF measurement, VNA use, tuning, test setup or fault investigation.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, simulations, specifications and test data.<\/li>\n<li>A structured approach to engineering documentation and problem-solving.<\/li>\n<li>Good communication skills and the ability to work with engineers from different disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>A willingness to learn, ask questions and develop specialist expertise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_12a7eae6 _75c2a818 _9b0f7623 f45f3923 _4e4a9883 _72a2d467 _9a64dc34 fa94859a afd72d7a _5d7e8717 c88c8901\"><span class=\"_0e40a960 d9981ad5\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>What kind of person will do well here? <\/strong>You are likely to enjoy this role if you:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_5e234547 _2c148f22\">\n<li>Like solving complex technical problems.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy combining simulation, analysis and hands-on lab work.<\/li>\n<li>Are comfortable learning from experienced engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Care about detail, evidence and robust engineering decisions.<\/li>\n<li>Want to build a long-term career in RF and microwave design.<\/li>\n<li>Are motivated by working on high-performance technology used in real-world communication systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_12a7eae6 _75c2a818 _9b0f7623 f45f3923 _4e4a9883 _72a2d467 _9a64dc34 fa94859a afd72d7a _5d7e8717 c88c8901\"><span class=\"_0e40a960 d9981ad5\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Benefits <\/strong>Filtronic offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including 25 days&#8217; annual leave plus UK bank holidays, the option to purchase additional leave, pension contributions, learning and development support, paid volunteer time, employee assistance support and parental leave benefits. <strong>Please telephone our Talent Partner, Bruce Mair on 07483 917543 for further details. <\/strong>You will be joining a business that values innovation, collaboration and technical excellence, with the opportunity to learn from experienced RF and microwave engineers while contributing to advanced products for global customers.<\/p>\n<p>Filtronic plc is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
