{"id":2463,"date":"2026-05-12T09:52:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T09:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=2463"},"modified":"2026-05-12T09:59:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T09:59:07","slug":"principal-rf-engineer-10","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/index.php\/job\/principal-rf-engineer-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Principal RF Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"_3198bc31 e7fd3fc5 _15026b77 _06fc976a b788e674 _455d2a19 e9a007df\">\n<h2 class=\"_384a5d29 _55b5dfd1 b8fd263b _8bff2c26 _9367426d _87974006 d9fcd881 _9c9aefe4 _00e11fba _49e095fc a84ddc44\">About the job<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"_384a5d29 _7c35b94f _8bff2c26 _9367426d _352c13d8 _59a9c788 _9c9aefe4 _00e11fba _49e095fc a84ddc44 _13be9c2f\"><span class=\"_4e9465fc _36064fe8\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Filtronic is looking for a <strong>Principal or Lead RF Engineer<\/strong> to join our team, based at our new state-of-the-art facility in County Durham UK, to work on a range of exciting products from concept through to production.<\/p>\n<p>With a wide range of design tools, experienced engineers and in-house RF\/mmW manufacturing capabilities, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of new products as part of the Filtronic team.<\/p>\n<p>Our products range from low volume niche opportunity devices to high volume telecommunications and defence equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose of Role: <\/strong>Responsible for leading the design of RF\/mmW elements and systems, ensuring that electrical performance, quality, cost and manufacturability requirements are met.<\/p>\n<p>The Principal or Lead RF Engineer will provide technical leadership across design activities, support project delivery and help develop best practice within the engineering team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary of responsibilities: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"b3546ed4 bdf2b465\">\n<li>Lead the design and development of RF\/mmW sub-circuits, sub-modules and systems within telecommunications and defence products.<\/li>\n<li>Take technical responsibility for RF\/mmW specification, design, simulation, realisation and verification.<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers within the team.<\/li>\n<li>Carry out system line-up analysis, tolerance analysis and design for manufacture.<\/li>\n<li>Support the selection of components, ICs and MMICs, including liaison with suppliers where required.<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with mechanical, electronics, PCB layout, manufacturing and test teams to deliver robust product designs.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and review design documentation, including design logbooks, data packs, peer reviews and design release information.<\/li>\n<li>Lead and participate in design reviews, identifying and managing technical risks.<\/li>\n<li>Support design verification and validation, including test specifications, test reports and reliability testing.<\/li>\n<li>Support problem solving and fault diagnosis during product introduction and production.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure designs are delivered in line with project technical, schedule and cost requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_384a5d29 _7c35b94f _8bff2c26 _9367426d _352c13d8 _59a9c788 _9c9aefe4 _00e11fba _49e095fc a84ddc44 _13be9c2f\"><span class=\"_4e9465fc _36064fe8\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Requirements <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"b3546ed4 bdf2b465\">\n<li>Relevant Degree or equivalent, preferably in RF, Microwave, Electronics or Communications Engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Significant experience in RF\/mmW circuit or system design.<\/li>\n<li>Experience using RF design tools such as Microwave Office, CST, EMPro or ADS.<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of microwave circuit design, system line-up analysis, tolerance\/yield analysis and design for manufacture.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of transceiver, amplifier, filter, module or subsystem design would be beneficial.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lead technical activities and support the development of other engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to engineering delivery.<\/li>\n<li>Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing and project teams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_384a5d29 _7c35b94f _8bff2c26 _9367426d _352c13d8 _59a9c788 _9c9aefe4 _00e11fba _49e095fc a84ddc44 _13be9c2f\"><span class=\"_4e9465fc _36064fe8\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Benefits <\/strong>We recognise the value of exceptional talent.
