{"id":2478,"date":"2026-05-15T11:42:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T11:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=2478"},"modified":"2026-05-15T11:55:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T11:55:42","slug":"principal-rf-antenna-test-engineer-2","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/theemcnews.co.uk\/index.php\/job\/principal-rf-antenna-test-engineer-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Principal RF Antenna Test Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"_81f0ce2b f82dffd8 _56dcffcd _541acca0 _86dbe298 _3d7860a2 _7d301276\">\n<h2 class=\"d8d5bbbc _2747149e _5baa7806 _2dffdc6d _6718f443 _8701cd9e cfeff318 _24f71c1d e2a4ad5d e4602472 _444aef97\">About the job<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"d8d5bbbc bab73015 _2dffdc6d _6718f443 e1321d56 a5c40a37 _24f71c1d e2a4ad5d e4602472 _444aef97 _74fd65b3\"><span class=\"_19377e04 a9023f58\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Job Description <\/strong>Are you interested in being part of a team delivering excellent innovative Antenna solutions?<\/p>\n<p>We have a fantastic opportunity for an Antenna \/ RF Test Engineer to join our Bristol Site Antennas team.<\/p>\n<p>You will be joining a welcoming and inclusive team of engineers, as part of the Antenna Core Delivery Team (CDT) working on a range of projects supporting the development and delivery of military communications equipment for a broad spectrum of applications and environments.<\/p>\n<p>As a Test Engineer your role will be to help support the production testing and development of antenna-based solutions for Leonardo, ranging from development of jigs and fixtures to test script and plan generation in preparation for hands-on product testing and data analysis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_44e8fd31 _05481107\">\n<li>Working with project teams to agree test plans and strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Planning and scheduling testing activities to ensure project requirements are satisfied.<\/li>\n<li>Setting up test equipment (e.g. power supplies, spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, network analysers) and following test plans to take measurements with this equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Support to general lab management tasks, including creating and maintaining the lab risk assessments and checking ESD equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake testing within and supporting use of the on-site screened room and near field chambers.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting test equipment calibration and record keeping.<\/li>\n<li>Development of test jigs and fixtures for products under test.<\/li>\n<li>Data analysis of test results and report writing.<\/li>\n<li>Generation of test plans and test scripts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"d8d5bbbc bab73015 _2dffdc6d _6718f443 e1321d56 a5c40a37 _24f71c1d e2a4ad5d e4602472 _444aef97 _74fd65b3\"><span class=\"_19377e04 a9023f58\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Required <\/strong><strong>What you will bring <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_44e8fd31 _05481107\">\n<li>Experience of working in screened rooms \/ near field chambers (preferably AESA testing experience).<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of general electronics and RF based test equipment and how to use them to take measurements.<\/li>\n<li>Test plan and report writing experience.<\/li>\n<li>Test script generation in C derivatives, Python and Visual Basic.<\/li>\n<li>Test data processing &amp; analysis.<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of measurement error budgets and techniques to quantify and reduce error margins<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of electronics design, antenna basics and safe ways of working with ESD.<\/li>\n<li>A collaborator with proven communication skills across engineering functions (RF, Microwave, Electronics and Mechanical).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"d8d5bbbc bab73015 _2dffdc6d _6718f443 e1321d56 a5c40a37 _24f71c1d e2a4ad5d e4602472 _444aef97 _74fd65b3\"><span class=\"_19377e04 a9023f58\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Desirable <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_44e8fd31 _05481107\">\n<li>Experience of developing tools to automate measurements (e.g. LabView or other scripted methods).<\/li>\n<li>Experience of designing prototype electronic circuit boards and test cables.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of fault-finding test setups and simple circuit boards.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with 3D CAD modelling and 3D printing.<\/li>\n<li>MATLAB experience.<\/li>\n<li>AESA testing experience.<\/li>\n<li>EMC testing experience.<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of working with classified data\/material.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to travel within the UK or internationally as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"d8d5bbbc bab73015 _2dffdc6d _6718f443 e1321d56 a5c40a37 _24f71c1d e2a4ad5d e4602472 _444aef97 _74fd65b3\"><span class=\"_19377e04 a9023f58\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Security Clearance <\/strong>This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government\u2019s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
