Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.<\/p>\n<p>Your impact<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to work at the forefront of EMC engineering, supporting the development and qualification of next-generation defence systems?<\/p>\n<p>At Leonardo, we have an exciting opportunity for an EMC Engineer to join our Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p><b>This role offers<\/b>\u00a0hands-on involvement across development and qualification programmes, working closely with experienced engineers in a UKAS accredited EMC test facility.<\/p>\n<p>The Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business is one of the world\u2019s leading developers and manufacturers of advanced sensor and countermeasure systems. As an EMC Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting EMC activities across the full product lifecycle, from early design through to formal qualification testing.<\/p>\n<p>What you will do as an EMC Engineer:<br \/>\n\u00b7 Work in a team of Engineers to develop EMC modelling and analysis capability.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Provide EMC support and technical input to project teams, supported by modelling analysis and test.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Support EMC engineering activities aligned to defence and aviation standards such as MIL-STD-461, DO-160, DEF-STAN 59-411 and EFA EMC specifications.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Contribute to EMC testing, covering a wide range of radiated and conducted emissions and susceptibility test types. These include radiated susceptibility tests with field strengths not commonly seen in the commercial environment and defence specific conducted transient tests simulating NEMP events.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Support early lifecycle pre-compliance activities through to formal product qualification EMC testing.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Assist with the preparation, execution and reporting of EMC tests within a UKAS accredited EMC facility.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Contribute to\u00a0<b>continuous improvement<\/b>\u00a0activities within the EMC facility, including test methods, processes and automation where appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>What you\u2019ll bring<\/p>\n<p>You will bring a solid technical foundation and an interest in developing your EMC capability within a complex engineering environment. It would be ideal if you have experience in some of the following areas:<br \/>\n\u00b7 Generation or support of EMC test plans, test procedures and test reports.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Training or experience in circuit simulation in packages such as LTSPICE, Simetrix etc.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ideally experience in electromagnetic modelling software, however skills transferrable from electronic and mechanical design packages e.g. Altium and Solidworks will be considered.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ability to perform electronic circuit analysis using e.g. Kirchoff\u2019s laws and Laplace transformed elements in time and frequency domain.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Knowledge of the physics of electricity and magnetism.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Understanding of EMC requirements and their application to complex electronic systems.<br \/>\n\u00b7 EMC design principles and good engineering practice.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Experience in supporting or conducting EMC testing in line with military or aerospace standards.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Knowledge of working within an accredited test environment.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Supporting product certification activities and formal design or performance reviews.<\/p>\n<p>This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above.
