Laboratory work is expected to take place in blocks of a few weeks at a time, rather than requiring permanent relocation to Belfast.<\/p>\n<p>You will work closely with RF, electronics, PCB layout, systems, software\/firmware and test engineers to develop robust, production-ready solutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_0787b050 _6ffa6c65 _4b79a6f9\">\n<li>Design and develop RF analogue and mixed-signal electronics for complex engineering systems.<\/li>\n<li>Design RF transceiver and front-end architectures using monolithic RF chipsets, including MMIC, SiP and SoC-style devices.<\/li>\n<li>Develop RF schematics, component selections and circuit designs in accordance with system requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Design and implement RF impedance matching networks, including L\/C matching and other appropriate techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Translate RF component datasheets, application circuits, biasing requirements and recommended matching networks into robust designs.<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with PCB layout engineers to ensure RF designs are implemented correctly, considering signal integrity, grounding, shielding, routing and manufacturability.<\/li>\n<li>Integrate RF blocks and sub-systems into larger electronic and system architectures.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and execute RF design verification and validation activities.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct hands-on laboratory testing using equipment such as:\n<ul class=\"_0787b050 _6ffa6c65 _4b79a6f9\">\n<li>Spectrum analysers.<\/li>\n<li>Vector Network Analysers (VNAs)<\/li>\n<li>RF signal generators.<\/li>\n<li>Power meters.<\/li>\n<li>Oscilloscopes and associated RF test equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Analyse measured data and use results to troubleshoot and improve RF designs.<\/li>\n<li>Investigate RF performance issues and systematically debug problems across hardware, layout and system interfaces.<\/li>\n<li>Produce clear and traceable engineering documentation, including:\n<ul class=\"_0787b050 _6ffa6c65 _4b79a6f9\">\n<li>Schematics.<\/li>\n<li>Design calculations.<\/li>\n<li>Design notes.<\/li>\n<li>Test plans.<\/li>\n<li>Test procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Verification and validation reports.<\/li>\n<li>Test results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with test and validation teams to ensure designs meet specified performance requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Work with firmware\/software engineers where required to support RF device configuration, control and system integration.<\/li>\n<li>Support design reviews, technical investigations and engineering problem-solving activities.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the development of engineering processes, standards and best practice within the wider Expleo team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_82677fbf _0fa4d0fa b4224917 _36d46020 _2ca8ec18 _0bfc467b fa5743df _52f98304 f0061819 _34493931 _87c24fb7\"><span class=\"_724bd188 _49b3e0ed _3eaa614e _4b79a6f9\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Essential Skills<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>The successful candidate will have:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_0787b050 _6ffa6c65 _4b79a6f9\">\n<li>Solid knowledge of RF principles, including:\n<ul class=\"_0787b050 _6ffa6c65 _4b79a6f9\">\n<li>Signal propagation<\/li>\n<li>RF link budgets<\/li>\n<li>Noise<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic range<\/li>\n<li>Gain and attenuation<\/li>\n<li>Filtering<\/li>\n<li>RF performance metrics<\/li>\n<li>Basic RF regulations and compliance considerations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interpret RF test results and use measured data to identify and resolve design issues.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interpret RF component datasheets and translate manufacturer recommendations into practical circuit designs.<\/li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving and debugging capability, with the ability to iterate RF designs based on laboratory measurements.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of relevant RF design standards and regulatory requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_82677fbf _0fa4d0fa b4224917 _36d46020 _2ca8ec18 _0bfc467b fa5743df _52f98304 f0061819 _34493931 _87c24fb7\"><span class=\"_724bd188 _49b3e0ed _3eaa614e _4b79a6f9\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Experience<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>We are looking for a hands-on RF Design Engineer who can combine strong theoretical RF knowledge with practical design and laboratory experience.<\/p>\n<p>You should be comfortable working independently on RF design problems, but equally capable of collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
