Laboratory work is expected to take place in blocks of a few weeks at a time, rather than requiring permanent relocation to our clients site in Templecombe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>Design and develop RF analogue and mixed-signal electronics for complex engineering systems.<\/li>\n<li>Design RF transceiver and front-end architectures using monolithic RF chipsets, including MMIC, SiP and SoC-style devices.<\/li>\n<li>Develop RF schematics, component selections and circuit designs in accordance with system requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Design and implement RF impedance matching networks, including L\/C matching and other appropriate techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Translate RF component datasheets, application circuits, biasing requirements and recommended matching networks into robust designs.<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with PCB layout engineers to ensure RF designs are implemented correctly, considering signal integrity, grounding, shielding, routing and manufacturability.<\/li>\n<li>Integrate RF blocks and sub-systems into larger electronic and system architectures.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and execute RF design verification and validation activities.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct hands-on laboratory testing using equipment such as:\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>Spectrum analysers.<\/li>\n<li>Vector Network Analysers (VNAs)<\/li>\n<li>RF signal generators.<\/li>\n<li>Power meters.<\/li>\n<li>Oscilloscopes and associated RF test equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Analyse measured data and use results to troubleshoot and improve RF designs.<\/li>\n<li>Investigate RF performance issues and systematically debug problems across hardware, layout and system interfaces.<\/li>\n<li>Produce clear and traceable engineering documentation, including:\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>Schematics.<\/li>\n<li>Design calculations.<\/li>\n<li>Design notes.<\/li>\n<li>Test plans.<\/li>\n<li>Test procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Verification and validation reports.<\/li>\n<li>Test results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with test and validation teams to ensure designs meet specified performance requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Work with firmware\/software engineers where required to support RF device configuration, control and system integration.<\/li>\n<li>Support design reviews, technical investigations and engineering problem-solving activities.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the development of engineering processes, standards and best practice within the wider Expleo team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_3faddfe2 _51757e0c _91a6adfa _9c81d976 c54a967e _439e36c1 ea01b314 _5da20e51 ce682fe0 e71e3a81 e80bf669\"><span class=\"_56b9378c _9ca88ac3 _7b2c17f8 _398a5a3d\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Essential Skills<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>The successful candidate will have:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>Solid knowledge of RF principles, including:\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>Signal propagation<\/li>\n<li>RF link budgets<\/li>\n<li>Noise<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic range<\/li>\n<li>Gain and attenuation<\/li>\n<li>Filtering<\/li>\n<li>RF performance metrics<\/li>\n<li>Basic RF regulations and compliance considerations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interpret RF test results and use measured data to identify and resolve design issues.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interpret RF component datasheets and translate manufacturer recommendations into practical circuit designs.<\/li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving and debugging capability, with the ability to iterate RF designs based on laboratory measurements.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of relevant RF design standards and regulatory requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_3faddfe2 _51757e0c _91a6adfa _9c81d976 c54a967e _439e36c1 ea01b314 _5da20e51 ce682fe0 e71e3a81 e80bf669\"><span class=\"_56b9378c _9ca88ac3 _7b2c17f8 _398a5a3d\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>Experience<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>We are looking for a hands-on RF Design Engineer who can combine strong theoretical RF knowledge with practical design and laboratory experience.<\/p>\n<p>You should be comfortable working independently on RF design problems, but equally capable of collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys getting into the laboratory, measuring real hardware, understanding why a design is not performing as expected and iterating the design to achieve the required performance.<\/p>\n<p>This role would suit an experienced RF Engineer, RF Design Engineer, RF Electronics Engineer or Electronics Design Engineer with significant RF experience.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>Recent experience using RF simulation and modelling tools, particularly:\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>CST<\/li>\n<li>Ansys HFSS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Experience within the defence, aerospace, telecommunications or other high-reliability engineering sectors.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with RF systems operating in challenging or safety-critical environments.<\/li>\n<li>Experience taking RF designs through development, verification and into production.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience designing and validating RF analogue and mixed-signal electronics.<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experience designing RF transceivers using monolithic chipsets, such as MMIC, SiP or SoC-style RF devices.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable experience with RF impedance matching, including L\/C matching and matching networks.<\/li>\n<li>Experience producing detailed electronic schematics and working effectively with PCB layout engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Practical experience validating RF designs within a laboratory environment.<\/li>\n<li>Experience using common RF test equipment, including spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators and RF power measurement equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Experience integrating individual RF blocks into a larger electronic or system-level architecture.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working collaboratively with RF\/electronics engineers, PCB layout engineers, test and validation teams and firmware\/software engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Strong technical documentation skills, with experience producing clear and traceable engineering documentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"_3faddfe2 _51757e0c _91a6adfa _9c81d976 c54a967e _439e36c1 ea01b314 _5da20e51 ce682fe0 e71e3a81 e80bf669\"><span class=\"_56b9378c _9ca88ac3 _7b2c17f8 _398a5a3d\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\"><strong>What Do I Need Before I Apply<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"_35d57ca1 _98ac637c _398a5a3d\">\n<li>This position offers flexibility for candidates based on the UK mainland.<\/li>\n<li>The role will involve periodic travel to Expleo&#8217;s Belfast facilities to undertake laboratory-based development, integration and verification activities.
