Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing stands as a critical checkpoint in the development of a spacecraft. It focusses on electromagnetic emissions and immunity, meaning YPSat-1’s ability to operate properly in the presence of interference. All tests were performed at ESTEC’s EMC Laboratory, a special test chamber that can simulate all these exposure scenarios to different frequencies.

“The tests confirmed that YPSat-1’s electronic components can operate reliably in the harsh electromagnetic environment of space. YPSat-1 demonstrated compliance with regulatory standards regarding electromagnetic emissions, ensuring that it won’t interfere with Ariane 6 during its launch.
