(NYSE: ULS), a global leader in applied safety science, has expanded its Mexico laboratory capacity and capabilities to meet the growing demand of manufacturers in Latin America for product safety and performance testing.<\/p><p>The expansion of UL Solutions\u2019 laboratory in Mexico\u00a0adds testing capabilities for consumer technology, automotive, and wire and cable products, broadening testing services for exports to the United States, Canada and throughout Latin America, while meeting local market needs. This also resulted in the facility becoming a Volkswagen de Mexico partner laboratory. \u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cMexico is a significant manufacturing hub, a key U.S. trading partner and a dynamic Latin American economy,\u201d said Todd Denison, senior vice president of Global Regions at UL Solutions. \u201cExpanding our capabilities in Mexico strengthens our ability to offer customers the science-based services they need to meet safety and performance testing and certification requirements, whether for local or export markets.\u201d<\/p><p>This state-of-the-art testing laboratory originally opened in May 2022. The facility was developed to help streamline the product certification process for importers and exporters in Mexico. Located in Quer\u00e9taro, about 135 miles or approximately 220 kilometers northwest of Mexico City, the facility is in a thriving industrial region with a strong manufacturing base, skilled work force and significant automotive industry presence.<\/p><p>The facility is one of Mexico\u2019s few multinational testing laboratories. The services offered support local businesses in bringing safer, compliant products to Mexico and throughout North and South America.<\/p><p>As a result of the expansion,\u00a0the\u00a0Quer\u00e9taro facility has achieved certification as an external laboratory partner by\u00a0Volkswagen de Mexico,\u00a0for testing automotive components and performance materials from its suppliers, according to the automotive group\u2019s standards.<\/p><p>Mexico is the world\u2019s seventh-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, producing 3.5 million vehicles annually. Eighty-eight percent of vehicles made in Mexico are exported, with 76% destined for the U.S. Mexico is also the world\u2019s fifth-largest manufacturer of heavy-duty vehicles for cargo, hosting manufacturers and assemblers of buses, trucks, tractor trucks and engines.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p><p>\u201cMexico is one of the world\u2019s most important automotive markets,\u201d\u00a0said Rodolfo Flores, regional director of Latin America, UL Solutions.\u00a0\u201cThis is why we continue to invest in talent, expertise and customized equipment to provide world-class testing to the automotive industry and its suppliers.
