  • Lead a series of applied research work-packages and feasibility studies, document and report on their findings, and provide RF architectural recommendations to support the creation of a digital antenna concept for our next generation surveillance radar system
  • Create high quality and robust designs; fully document and record your work products, keep them under configuration management and provide plans and progress reports; and conduct design reviews within the design review framework
  • Supervise junior responsible engineers from within your system or functional block of RF assemblies
  • Ensure design reviews are planned, executed and completed successfully
  • Prepare robust manufacturing data packs and provide technical support to sub-contracts and engineering interface with manufacturing
  • Qualifications first or second degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferable) or related science (e.g. Physics)
  • Proven experience (5 years +) in RF circuit design and analysis and a strong understanding of microwave techniques and electromagnetic theory
  • Proficiency in using commercial software tools for RF analysis /simulation and schematic capture such as ADS, AWR, CST

In this role you will play a key role in:

  • Design, Integration, Validation and Documentation of RF Test Systems solutions; this role shall include all efforts required to deliver the test & control solution, including all hardware aspects where applicable and coordination of these disciplines where appropriate.
  • Ensures that the developed solution is developed and produced within the relevant issued quality processes.
  • Liaise with Project Responsible Engineer to achieve successful project milestone reviews with associated document inputs.
  • Responsible for maintaining the solution and for providing support through the project operations phase (with the support of the Test Operations organisation).
  • To provide responses/advice with respect to test hardware related occurrence reports and non-conformance raised.
  • Supports the weekly and monthly reporting to the project team and to the department management team.

  • HND in Electronic Engineering with relevant similar industry experience.
  • Graduate in Electrical / RF Engineering; Aerospace; Electrical manufacture and design.

  • Able to present technical data to peers and project managers in a coherent manner

You will be responsible for performing RF and low voltage DC testing on satellite systems, ensuring designs meet strict technical, safety, and performance requirements. Antenna & RF Engineer Role Description Summary We are actively seeking an Antenna and RF Engineer to support UK programmes for systems engineering activities.   • Responsible for managing system engineering deliverables of all antenna and RF projects: requirements capture and analysis, standards and compliance review of design and producing required design documentation.

  • Manage technical response and technical compliance for designs, including internal commercial approvals.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience in engineering, defence, and SATCOM.
  • Knowledge of ground station equipment to include up and down converters, power amplifiers, receivers, and other antenna elements; low-voltage power distribution, backup battery, generator systems, and international electrical standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering on large and/or complex engineering projects.
  • Experience with defence contracts, governance, and transition projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Service Delivery, Service Operations, Engineering, and Operations teams.
  • Valid UK Security Clearance required.

Preferable competencies

  • Experience with ISO standards, DEFCONs, DEFSTANs and JSPs.

The Opportunity We have a fantastic opportunity to join a busy RF Design Team supporting the RF testing and development of some of the most cutting edge and exciting projects in the defence industry.

Our team is looking for an RF Laboratory Technician to provide day to day support to the RF Designers across various tasks including testing, component level assembly and rework, mainly on development or prototype boards.

You’ll use your experience of RF circuits and components covering a wide frequency range up to high GHz, as well as fault finding, rework, soldering and use of general laboratory equipment.

Our team is looking for an RF Laboratory Technician to provide day to day support to the RF Designers across various tasks including testing, component level assembly and rework, mainly on development or prototype boards.

You’ll use your experience of RF circuits and components covering a wide frequency range up to high GHz, as well as fault finding, rework, soldering and use of general laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop full-custom Analog/Mixed-Signal/RF layouts at block and top level.
  • Ensure compliance with Analog/Mixed-Signal and RF design constraints.
  • Maintain layout quality, including matching, symmetry, shielding, isolation, and reliability per design guidelines.
  • Perform DRC/LVS/ERC and antenna checks and drive layout closure.
  • Collaborate closely with designers to resolve layout issues and meet project timelines.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Cadence Virtuoso (XL/GXL) for layout design.
    • Calibre for verification.
    • PDKs with multi-patterning rules.
  • Experience in lower technology nodes, preferably 5nm and below.
  • RF layout experience, including:
    • Handling high-frequency signal paths, guard rings, shielding, and EM coupling considerations.
    • Layout of RF blocks such as mixers, LNAs, VCOs, and power amplifiers.

Good To Have

  • Exposure to PLL, LNA, VGA, ADC, DAC, SerDes, Bandgap, LDO, etc.
  • Programming skills in SKILL for automation.

Experience

  • 8+ years in Analog/Mixed-Signal/RF layout design, including RF layout techniques.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech/M.E in ECE/EE.
