We are looking for a Solutions Engineer, reporting directly to the UK Sales Manager. The Technical Solutions Engineer is a technical expert who has in-depth knowledge of the defense market, various associated applications and equipment as well as a strong understanding of the company’s products and technologies. Its role is cross functional and covers all entities within the group. The Technical Solutions Engineer plays a key role in developing sales by providing technical expertise to clients, building a trusted relationship with them.

Your Missions Will Be To

  • Provide technical support & expertise to sales.
  • Conduct technical demonstrations, addressing customer enquiries, resolving technical issues.
  • Identify potential synergies between different entities based on targeted applications.
  • Act as the interface between local technical support teams within the Business Units, the local sales team and the customers, to understand customer’s needs and present tailored technical solutions to meet those needs.

Profile

YOUR ASSETS

You have a dual engineering/commercial background and over 10 years of experience.

Background in Radio Frequency and Optical connectivity technologies.

English native speaker. French language would be a plus.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability and willingness to travel at least 30% for customer meeting and opportunity development.

This is a hybrid role, flexibility to work partly remotely and from the office. Candidates will ideally be based within the Home Counties.

About us:

The Payload Prepare for Test team works on the electrical and RF testing of telecommunication satellite spacecraft products, specifically on the NEO and the new OneSat platforms. Our team is composed of RF validation, hardware, and software engineers who collaborate to deliver our test solutions in the following areas:

Test System Development

  • Interpreting test requirements to develop new test systems and test types in line with project needs and to satisfy the validation and system team;
  • Forward looking group anticipating future needs and obsolescence to deliver world class RF and Electrical payload check out systems;
  • Continually looking to improve testing through innovation and new technologies.

Test Deployment

  • On time validation and deployment of our test assets to project / operations;
  • Providing on the ground and first line support to spacecraft production operations;
  • Ownership of first closure Non-Quality (NQ) resolution related to test systems.

RF Engineering and Validation

  • Customer facing team liaising directly with external and internal customers to ensure we deliver against testing requirements and expectations;
  • Governance of test processes related to operations and preparation;
  • Providing test inputs to production schedules and management of live test phases;
  • Validation of test system and payload results to ensure compliance with requirements.

What you will be doing:

During this internship, you will support Satellite Payload Test functions detailed above and contribute to the successful delivery of payload test campaigns across multiple live projects.

Typical activities include:

  • Design and procurement of new test system hardware;
  • Initial assembly, validation and commissioning of new test system hardware;
  • Writing of new test system software;
  • Supporting investigations with the systems engineering team;
  • Test System parametric data generation and validation;
  • Test System test code validation;
  • Test System calibration and deployment to the cleanroom;
  • Test System emulation of parametric data;
  • Test System support of live test campaigns and investigations.

These activities will involve participating in our sprints and daily scrums, and when needed, you’ll be in the cleanroom supporting the test system itself.

Snr RF+Electronics Design Engineer

General Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The VI team are looking for an adaptable, enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team of skilled engineers in Cambridge. The Team plays a pivotal role in the transfer to production of the company’s Mobile, Voice and Music & IoT products, from the moment when the first pre-production samples are received until devices are first shipped to customers. During this time, the RF Characterisation team is at the centre of an ongoing process to optimize and fully validate the performance of the devices. This work is done in conjunction with colleagues across a variety of teams both in the UK and overseas. Working within our team provides a unique opportunity to work across the engineering disciplines from high level software to low-level hardware. This is enabled, in addition to the work on Qualcomm’s products, by the fact that the team also actively develops its own in-house automation infrastructure in collaboration with other teams.

The group consists of multi-disciplined (RF, Analogue, Software and Digital) engineers who work closely with specialist design and systems engineers. This broad base of knowledge is deployed to provide optimal tuning and configuration solutions for radio operation. The role is predominantly lab-based working at circuit, cell, subsystem and system level.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible to evaluate, characterize and develop the design implementation solution for leading-edge products in the most advanced processes. Interfaces with various cross functional teams (RF, Analog and Digital IC designers, Software, System Engineering, Test Engineers, Customer Engineering, and Operations) to drive and incorporate the latest design solutions in the production program to improve yield, productivity, and quality.
  • The Engineer will be assigned to a project and be responsible for the performance and operation of the radio, to include digits, firmware and analogue/RF. This involves interfacing directly with analogue and digital designers, systems engineers and radio control FW engineers to provide a complete radio system solution for verification and validation in characterization over temperature and process skews.
  • The Engineer is also expected to work on digital emulator platforms, essential knowledge of digital design flow, ability to read and debug RTL code.
  • Troubleshoots advanced issues with radio designs and finds solutions that are documented and shared with internal cross functional teams working on similar products.
  • The Engineer will be responsible for automation for development and validation of ASIC products generating Python test scripts, writing embedded C code for FW radio control, supporting the business group with radio training materials and investigating customer issues and product returns where required.
  • Manages project-related activities (e.g., meetings, documentation, deliverables) between their team and other teams working on the same or similar products, operating across locations and time zones.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

The RF and Microwave Design Team provide innovative solutions serving aerospace, defence, and space market spaces, primarily in the design and development of radar and telecommunication products.

We are seeking a an experienced and driven RF Systems Engineer to join our growing capability team focused on development of RF systems. This role is ideal for a systems-level thinker with deep expertise in RF technologies who thrives at the interface of multi-disciplinary teams and excels in shaping innovative system solutions from concept through to demonstrator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Engineering: RF system architectures, including trade-off studies balancing performance, cost, time, and risk from early-stage R&D (TRL 2-4) through to advanced technology demonstrators (TRL5/6 and beyond).
  • Multi-Disciplinary Integration: Bring together specialists in antennas, RF components, signal processing, electronics, firmware, and software to deliver cohesive system solutions.
