Role & Responsibilities

Due to increased project commitments and anticipated growth, we are seeking either a full time or contract RF engineer to support our ongoing development initiatives in our European operations. This position is part of a key project requirement and will be based in our Edinburgh office.

You will play a critical role in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the design, development, and validation of RF sub-systems integral to our ground station and terminal products for satellite communication applications across L-Band to Ka-Band.

The role involves hands-on RF design, system integration, performance optimisation and verification to ensure project deliverables meet technical, quality and schedule targets.

You will work closely with our RF, digital, mechanical and test engineering teams to deliver high-performance RF solutions that meet customer and project requirements, supporting both prototype and production phases.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Design and layout of RF PCBs using Altium is essential
  • Production of manufacture data-packs is also essential
  • Familiarity with ADS or Microwave Office is key
  • Knowledge ofHFSS / CST would be a big plus
  • Familiarity withlaboratory test and measurement using spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators, digital oscilloscopes and power meters would be an advantage
  • Hands-on design experience at satellite communication frequency bands (L, K, Ku, Ka) would also be advantageous
  • Knowledge of phased arrays would be an advantage
  • Knowledge ofPython, MATLAB, SCPI or VISA is also advantageous
  • A degree in electronics, telecommunication or systems engineering is desirable

We are looking for a KTP Associate to work with Microwave Vision Group (MVG, https://www.mvg-world.com/en). The aim is to develop next-generation reverberation chambers (RCs) with optimised performance characteristics, advancing both theory and practical application of RCs. By leveraging advanced simulation, measurement techniques, and design methodologies, the project will result in a novel product line for MVG and establish new benchmarks in electromagnetic testing environments. The post is available for 3 years. At the end of the project, a permanent position to work at the Company may be offered.

Responsibilities

The Associate will design, simulate and test next-generation reverberation chambers for antennas and EMC testing. The final design may become a new product for MVG.

Qualifications

A good degree in engineering, excellent knowledge/experience in applied electromagnetics and RF/microwave/antenna engineering. Familiar with EM simulation tools and good communication skills.

  • Be a recognised technical expert in Power Systems, associated components & equipment.

  • Provide technical support to the project manager, lead engineer & commissioning teams in managing project deliverables and variations.

We are seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to join our highly skilled engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and self-sufficient RF professional to contribute to both New Product Introduction (NPI) and Sustaining Engineering across a broad range of innovative projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • RF Circuit Design: Engage in system architecture, RF simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout. Work on general RF circuits and have the opportunity to contribute to high-power amplifiers, converters, and power supplies.
  • Product Development: Lead and support full product lifecycles, from requirements capture through to design, testing, and validation.
  • Technical Authority: Troubleshoot and resolve RF-related challenges, working closely with embedded, product, and mechanical engineering colleagues.
  • Independent Work: Manage your own workload and testing with minimal supervision.
  • Mentoring & Collaboration: Provide guidance to junior engineers and help evolve team practices through knowledge sharing and documentation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Background in RF design or a closely related field in a commercial setting.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with PCB design software and RF simulation tools; knowledge of RF amplifiers, filters, EMC principles, and both analogue and digital electronics.
  • Desirable: Experience with up/down converters, power supply design, and test equipment (e.g. spectrum/network analysers).
  • Work Style: Confident working autonomously, able to take ownership of complex technical tasks.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

Remote-First Working:

This is a remote-first role, offering flexibility while retaining meaningful connection with our on-site team. We ask that candidates are able to attend the Wappenham office approximately one week per month for key meetings and collaboration. All travel and accommodation costs for these visits will be covered. Ideally, candidates should be located within a two-hour drive of the site.
