The RF and Microwave Design Team provide innovative solutions serving aerospace, defence, and space market spaces, primarily in the design and development of radar and telecommunication products.

In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to design, test, and troubleshoot RF systems. You will support the development activities throughout the entire product lifecycle. This will include understanding customer requirements and developing collaborative relationships during the early lifecycle phases, as well as support detailed design reviews and handover to manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of RF circuit design, microwave techniques, and electromagnetic theory. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Main responsibilities:

  • Design and develop RF circuits that meet the technical requirements and company processes for manufacture.
  • Conduct analysis and simulation of RF circuits using commercial tools and theory knowledge.
  • Perform RF testing, characterisation, and optimisation to ensure functionality of the product.
  • Conduct and contribute to design reviews and technical meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate RF circuits into systems.
  • Assist manufacturing to resolve technical problems as required.
  • Ensure Manufacturing Packages (BoMs, drawings etc.) are generated and maintained using controlled Engineering change processes.

As RF Validation Engineer, you will play a pivotal pivotal role in the development of Pragmatic Semiconductor’s FlexIC products. This involves working within a highly skilled team of Engineers who are focused on the development of automated, volume test solutions. Working with colleagues from the adjacent Device and IC Validation teams, the role is centred around the development, execution and optimisation of wafer-level test cases and the presentation of data to project stakeholders.

The successful applicant will work on the development and roll-out of RF test case – from planning, design and implementation to the transfer to production and beyond.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • RF/Analogue Test Design and Implementation – working with internal stakeholders to provide input to validation and production test system design. RF/Analogue skills are also used for the analysis of some of the measurement data which the team generates.
  • Automation of Test Cases – working on the automation of hardware test cases and their integration into Pragmatic’s systems, using a variety of test hardware including test equipment such as SMUs, Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Network Analysers and ATE wafer probers.

The Payload Prepare for Test team works on the electrical and RF testing of telecommunication satellite spacecraft products, specifically on the NEO and the new OneSat platforms. Our team is composed of RF validation, hardware, and software engineers who collaborate to deliver our test solutions in the following areas:

Test System Development

  • Interpreting test requirements to develop new test systems and test types in line with project needs and to satisfy the validation and system team;
  • Forward looking group anticipating future needs and obsolescence to deliver world class RF and Electrical payload check out systems;
  • Continually looking to improve testing through innovation and new technologies.

Test Deployment

  • On time validation and deployment of our test assets to project / operations;
  • Providing on the ground and first line support to spacecraft production operations;
  • Ownership of first closure Non-Quality (NQ) resolution related to test systems.

RF Engineering and Validation

  • Customer facing team liaising directly with external and internal customers to ensure we deliver against testing requirements and expectations;
  • Governance of test processes related to operations and preparation;
  • Providing test inputs to production schedules and management of live test phases;
  • Validation of test system and payload results to ensure compliance with requirements.

What you will be doing:

During this internship, you will support Satellite Payload Test functions detailed above and contribute to the successful delivery of payload test campaigns across multiple live projects.

Typical activities include:

  • Design and procurement of new test system hardware;
  • Initial assembly, validation and commissioning of new test system hardware;
  • Writing of new test system software;
  • Supporting investigations with the systems engineering team;
  • Test System parametric data generation and validation;
  • Test System test code validation;
  • Test System calibration and deployment to the cleanroom;
  • Test System emulation of parametric data;
  • Test System support of live test campaigns and investigations.

These activities will involve participating in our sprints and daily scrums, and when needed, you’ll be in the cleanroom supporting the test system itself.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.

We are seeking an EMC Compliance Engineer to test, validate, and document the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance of customer products. This hands-on role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and teamwork to ensure high-quality results and continuous improvement in laboratory processes.
Responsibilities
  • Perform EMC tests based on pre-defined plans and generate detailed reports.
  • Develop test plans and procedures tailored to product requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with international EMC standards and regulations.
